The collection of the Fort Bend History Association is varied with a wide range of time periods, object types, and themes reflected in it. We have daguerreotypes, saddles, dresses, a church window, glassware, tools and more! The collection primarily spans from the early 19th century to the present. Two large subsets of the collection include items regarding the John M. Moore, Sr. family and those items pertaining to the T. T. Dew family and Missouri City.

Yes, we are happy to provide resources for researchers. However, our collections facility is in a non-public area so an appointment is required. Please contact the Chief Curator to schedule an appointment making sure to provide materials you would like to view so that he can determine the appropriateness of the request and have them pulled for you when you arrive.

We are happy to help the public learn more about Fort Bend County history or their own family story. However, we have a small collections staff so we are not able to handle large or time-consuming requests. For anything more than a brief request, please schedule a time to visit the collections department. We are happy to help you conduct the research in our collection yourself.

Please contact the Chief Curator of Collections to discuss your request. Please have ready the reason for your request, the names or accession numbers of the image(s) requested and the preferred resolution and image format (jpg, tiff, pdf, etc.)

We do charge for images depending on how the image will be used and the amount of time that is required to complete the request. Discounts are provided for scholarly work and requests from other nonprofit organizations. Consult the Chief Curator of Collections to receive a quote for your project.
