In partnership with the Fort Bend Museum, GiGi’s playhouse is showcasing the extraordinary talents of their artists with a special reception and exhibition throughout the months of January and February. Through the artistic process, these artists exhibit not only the finished product of the labor but their learned confidence, and creative self-expression.

The Jaybird & Woodpecker War

Tuesday, February 10th - Saturday, April 11th

The Fort Bend Museum presents The Jaybird & Woodpecker War; an exhibit about the political feud that tore a town apart and set neighbors and families on opposing sides. The Jaybird-Woodpecker War was a pivotal period of conflict that shaped the history of Fort Bend County. In the aftermath of the Civil War, the two factions struggled for control over Fort Bend County’s political sphere, ending in a violent battle in the heart of Richmond that cost multiple lives.

The exhibit will tell the story of this feud and its culminating battle, showcasing real records and artifacts from the event and illustrating the lasting effects the dispute had on Fort Bend County for years to come. Visit the Fort Bend Museum to explore this critical moment in history!
